Wanda Louise Henderson, 91, of Newton, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 29, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Memorials to Skiff Hospice may be left at the funeral home.

Wanda, the daughter of George and Mary “Dicy” (Deaton) Weimer, was born on Oct. 1, 1923, in Oklahoma City, Okla. She moved to Iowa as a young child, living in Colfax until 1957, when she moved to Newton. Wanda was united in marriage with Curtis Henderson. She worked as a screener at the Vernon Company and at Dunlaps. Later, she also was a home care aide for homebound elderly in the area.

Those left to honor Wanda’s memory are her daughter, Connie (Wayne) DeKoning of Newton; son Rick Henderson of Madrid; her grandchildren, Rod (Marcy) DeKoning, Brent (Amy) DeKoning, Blake (Chris) DeKoning, Heath (Mindy) DeKoning, Dawn (Kurt) Houseman, Teresa Mackewich, Mindy (David) Samson, Jason (Misti) Henderson, Jonas Henderson, Holly (Mike) Johnston and Jeremy Henderson; 28 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Bonnie Naisbitt of Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Curtis Henderson; two daughters in infancy, Loretta Jane and Laura Louise; a brother, Afton “Jack” Weimer; sister Whelma (Norman) Case; and a brother-in-law, Bill Naisbitt.
