Pennies for Change winners celebrate with pizza party

Students in Michelle Modlin’s fourth grade class at Aurora Heights Elementary School enjoyed a pizza party hosted by United Way of Jasper County on Dec. 22. The class earned a pizza party by raising the most money during the United Way of Jasper County Pennies for Change event this fall. As a school, Aurora Heights raised $1,620.43, which was more than half of the district-wide total of $3,037. Following the pizza party, the students asked questions and shared their stories of how they like to help their community.

“It was great to celebrate these young givers and see these life-long community supporters in the making,” said Jessica Lowe, United Way of Jasper County executive director.
