Newton Police Department

• Richard Norton, 35, of Cameron, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear after authorities were called to the Manhattan Bar at 11:30 p.m. Friday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Daniel J. Benson, 30, of Kellogg, is charged with possession and driving while license suspended after authorities pulled him over in the 400 block of First Avenue East at 10:40 a.m. Friday. A pot pipe was found in his pocket upon searching. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Eric P Bottorff, 38, of Baxter, is charged with driving while license suspended after authorities pulled him over in the 700 block of First Street North at 8:54 a.m. Friday. He was cited and released to appear.

• James C. Ryther, 43, of Newton, is charged with interference with official acts after authorities were called to 815 First St. N. at 10:01 p.m. Friday. Officers were called on a domestic situation and found overturned chairs and a broken lamp in the house. While trying to speak with the victim, Ryther would not listen to officers to go inside and resisted arrest. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
