Newton community helps those in need

Judy Wittenberg

Newton

I’ve read several great articles about how our community helps each other, and I once again have to chime in.

On Nov. 16, I took another fall — this time in front of the First United Methodist Church. I heard my right shoulder tear and hurt my left hip both of which had joint replacements.

Jeff Carmichael, Greg and Rhonda Loder, Dick Martens and others came to my rescue that cold day. They sheltered me from the cold and called the ambulance. Those men were wonderful, carefully lifting me up and transporting me to Skiff ER where Dr. Green, Diane and Marna, plus the kind lady who did X-rays, were all great and so caring.

Thank you for each of you whether you were coming out of church, in a car passing by, the ambulance men or the ER staff for coming to my rescue.

This is the Christmas season, but the people of Newton, Iowa are the best year round with the attitude of helping each other when they see a need. Thank you for making Newton such a wonderful community.
