17-year-old pleads not guilty to vehicular homicide

SAC CITY — A 17-year-old has pleaded not guilty to vehicular homicide charges in connection to a fatal car crash in August. Court records show an attorney for the teen filed the written plea Monday in Sac County District Court. He faces two counts of homicide by vehicle-operating under the influence and two counts of homicide by vehicle-reckless driving. No trial date has been set.

The 17-year-old was driving a pickup in August that collided with a car driven by 16-year-old Bailey Jacobsen. She and her passenger, 16-year-old Lindsey Quirk, were killed.

Authorities say the 17-year-old’s blood alcohol level was above the legal limit for minors driving.
