Knee-High Naturalists Starry Night

Meet us in the Carousel Horse Room at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday for a special program by Knee-High Naturalists and the Jasper County Conservation Naturalists. Learn what the difference between a star and a shooting star is, look for constellations, and find out about other objects of the night sky. For kids ages 3-5.

New Library Cards

We are proud to announce that we have a new library card with a bold Get To Know Newton Public Library design and a key fob! To celebrate we are giving out our new card for free through Jan. 1 and giving away prizes. Upload a photo of you and your card to social media with #KnowNewton and be entered for a prize! Anyone wishing to get a library card or wanting to replace their current library card can do so for free! The new design allows patrons to put a card on their key chain and carry one in their wallet/purse! All old library cards will still be usable and no one will be required to get a new card.

Homebound Reader Service

The library offers access to library materials to people unable to visit the library in person because of illness, injury, mobility or disability. The library will match the homebound individual with a volunteer who will deliver books for patrons within city limits of Newton, or a family member may be designated for those outside of Newton city limits. Homebound readers will be able to check out books, Audiobooks, and magazines. If you would like to apply for Homebound Reader service call the information desk at 641-792-4108 to request an application be mailed to you. Questions or want to volunteer? Contact Nicole Lindstrom, Public Services Librarian, at the number listed above.

Update your Library Cards

Before the holidays, it may be smart to update your library cards and pay off any fines you have accrued. Updating your card will ensure your use of Wilbor, Freegal and other offsite library services. The last thing you want is to try to download a book over holiday breaks and be unable to.
