Senior Citizens pre-holiday opportunities

Marvin Campbell

Newton

This coming Thursday evening brings an array of activities at the Newton High School, and as usual, all senior citizens of Newton, who display their red Lifetime Pass will enter for free!

This red senior citizens pass is gaining popularity, and for good reason. It’s a tribute to anyone 62 years of age within the Newton area. For those who do not have a red pass, just head for the Newton High School and sign up. What a nice way to start the holiday season.

Here’s what’s happening. At 4:45 p.m., Newton’s JV girls basketball team is pitted against Marshalltown. The boys JV team meets at the same time. Then at 6 p.m., a music concert is scheduled by the Thomas Jefferson transitional kindergarten and kindergartners. First graders will sing at 7 p.m.

At 6:15 p.m., the Newton varsity girls basketball team meets at Marshalltown with the boys 9th grade team also meeting Marshalltown.

At 7:30 p.m., Newton girls ninth grade team meets Marshalltown with the boys varsity team at the same time. What a program!

Students will be running the concession stand with a good variety of snacks. So, bring your appetite as well as some members of your family, young and old.

Again, there is absolutely no entry fee for those holding the red Lifetime Pass. This promises to be a great evening at our high school. That’s for sure!
