The Newton Community Theater will host auditions for its next production, “No Sex Please, We Are British,” from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Newton Community Theatre, 1701 S. Eighth Ave. E. in Newton.
The play will be directed by John Dougan and assisted by Linda Dougan.
Speaking parts will be available for seven men and three women.
Production date for the upcoming play are scheduled for Feb. 20, 21, 22, 26, 27 and 28.
“No Sex Please, We Are British” is about a young bride who lives innocently; she sends a mail order off for some Scandinavian glassware and receives Scandinavian pornography instead. The plot revolves around what is to be done with the veritable floods of material and the matter is considerably complicated by the young husband’s mother, his boss, a visiting bank inspector, a police superintendent and a muddled friend who does everything wrong in his reluctant efforts to set everything right, all of which works up to a hilarious ending of closed or slamming doors.
This show ran in London more than eight years and also delighted Broadway audiences.
