Newton Police Department

• Eric P. McDowell, 24, of Newton, is charged with driving while license suspended and no insurance after authorities pulled him over in the 200 block of West Eighth Street North at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday. He was cited and released to appear.

• Mackenzie L. Carter, 20, of Newton, was arrested on a Jasper County Warrant for probation violation after authorities were called to 509 E. 25th St. N. at 8:40 p.m. Nov. 26. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Richard R. Marsh, 45, of Newton, was arrested on a Poweshiek County warrant for failure to appear after authorities pulled him over in the 100 block of First Street North at 2 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Richard R. Wilson, 28, of Eldora, is charged with operating while under the influence, assault on persons in certain occupations, possession of controlled substance and interfere with official acts inflicts bodily injury after authorities were called to the 300 block of East Four-and-a-half Street South at 7:01 p.m. Saturday. Officers found Wilson in his van which was running. He appeared disoriented and was mumbling. There was a smell of alcohol on him and he had bloodshot, watery eyes. During sobriety testing, Wilson became uncooperative and resisted arrest. While trying to restrain his feet, he kicked and assaulted an officer. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Danny L. Atwood, 34, of Newton, is charged with third-degree theft after authorities were called to West End Laundry at 5:05 a.m. Nov. 28. Employees told the officers they found the coin machine broken into and quarters scattered on the floor. More than $600 was taken. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Angela J. Henderson, 37, of Kellogg, is charged with fifth-degree theft and trespassing after authorities were called to Walmart at 4:13 p.m. Nov. 25. Employees told the officers they saw Henderson along with another man take several items and put them in her purse. They attempted to leave the store and when confronted, she handed the purse to the man and ran away. She got into a bystander’s car saying she was being chased when officers found her. The items totaled $53.79. She was banned from entering Walmart after a previous shoplifting incident. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• A 15-year-old juvenile is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities saw him walking in the 300 block of East Fifth Street North at 2:35 a.m. Sunday. After initially saying he was 18, he admitted to being 15. While being searched, officers found a glass marijuana pipe in his pocket. He was taken to the police station and released to appear.

• Romana L. Barker, 52, of Newton, is charged with unsafe backing and failure to provide insurance after authorities were called to South Sixth Avenue East at 6:42 p.m. Nov. 26. Briana Bathke said she was looking out her window when she saw Barker hit her vehicle while backing out, leaving without leaving any information. Barker initially denied the incident but later admitted to hitting the vehicle. Bathke had approximately $1,000 in damage while Barker had approximately $200. She was cited and released to appear.
