Newton Police Department

• Morgan R. G. Woody, 22, of Reasnor, is charged with driving while license suspended after being pulled over in the 700 block of West Fifth Street South at 1:43 a.m. Nov. 22. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jacob R. Stengele, 20, of Newton, is charged with possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities were called to 700 W. Third St. S. at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 21. While being arrested on a Jasper County warrant, officers performed a search and found three pipes, several baggies and marijuana. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Kadeem O. Hendon, 21, of Newton, was arrested on a Polk County warrant for attempted burglary after authorities were called to 700 W. Third St. S. at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 21. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Brandon L. Reed, 26, of Newton, was arrested on a Poweshiek County warrant for failure to appear after authorities were called to 700 W. Third St. S. at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 21. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Crystal D. Ross, 29, of Des Moines, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of controlled substance after authorities pulled her over in the 2200 block of North Fourth Avenue West at 12:08 a.m. Nov. 23 for expired registration. Ross said the vehicle was in-transit and she didn’t have the title or insurance. While being arrested, officers searched Ross and found a glass meth pipe along with a small bag containing snorting straw and Q-tips. She admitted to smoking meth earlier that day. After searching the vehicle, officers found a digital scale, used spoon, syringes, Q-tips and small baggies along with a canister with .7 grams of meth. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Anthony K. N. Nicholas, 22, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree criminal mischief after authorities were called to Walmart at 2:21 p.m. Nov. 15. Officers spoke with an employee who said Nicholas took a flashlight out of its package and concealed it, then put it back on the shelf. He said he was going to pay for it but could not have done so after it was out of the package. He was cited and released to appear.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office

• Brett A. Maple, 49, of Newton, is charged with possession of controlled substance and operating while under the influence after authorities pulled him over in the 14000 block of Highway 6 East at 11:35 p.m. Nov. 10. Officers pulled Maple over for a traffic violation when they saw numerous air fresheners in the vehicle. Officers observed Maple's hands
were trembling and he was sweating. Officers asked to search the vehicle and found meth inside a cigarette package. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Brett G. Daughtry, 37, of Newton, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities pulled over a vehicle he was traveling in at the 6300 block of Highway F48 West at 11:52 p.m. Nov. 18. After pursuing the vehicle, officers found a digital scale and baggies thrown outside the vehicle on the passengers side. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Christy A. Nida, 32, of Newton, is charged with operating while under the influence, obstructing prosecution or defense, possession of controlled substance, child endangerment, driving while barred, possession of drug paraphernalia and eluding after authorities pulled over the vehicle in the 6300 block of Highway F48 West at 11:52 p.m. Nov. 18. After a pursuit, Nida pulled over where officers found her riding with children in the vehicle. Officers also found a pipe with meth in it and Nida admitted to taking Hydrocodon pills that were not prescribed to her. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
