Pacesetters to compete at state competition

The Newton Pacesetters will be competing at the Iowa State Dance/Drill Team Competition on Friday at Wells Fargo Arena and Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines.

The ISDTA Dance Championships involves more than 5,000 participants representing over 275 high school dance teams and color guards. Teams are judged by an expert panel of judges from across the United States.

The Pacesetters will be competing against 10-12 teams in each of their categories: Class XII Pom (8:48 a.m.), Class V Jazz (11:53 a.m.) and Class III Kick (3:42 p.m.). The Pacesetters goal for this year is to receive a Division I rating in all three categories as well as place in the top 5. The Pacesetters are coached by Paige Meredith.

The competition will run from 8 to 9 p.m. The doors will open for spectators at 7 a.m. All seats are general admission. Ticket cost is $10.
