Newton Police Department

• Shirley A. Anderson-Manor, 68, of Newton, is charged with failure to maintain control after authorities were called to the intersection of East 14th Street and First Avenue East at 5:12 p.m. Nov. 15. Anderson-Manor was traveling westbound when she attempted to stop at a red light but was unable to and hit Dean McVay. Anderson-Manor had approximately $100 in damage while McVay had approximately $400. She was cited and released to appear.

• Tiffany L. Bailey, 24, of Sully, is charged with failure to maintain control after authorities were called to the intersection of Iowa Speedway Drive and Highway 6 at 3:07 p.m. Nov. 15. Bailey was turning from First Avenue onto Iowa Speedway Drive when she lost control and hit Natalie Chandler’s front bumper. Bailey had approximately $50 in damage while Chandler had approximately $200. She was cited and released to appear.

• Brandon L. Jones, 28, of Newton, is charged with failure to maintain control after authorities were called to the 1400 block of First Avenue East at 10:26 a.m. Nov. 15. Jones rear-ended Rowena Vansice, who in turn rear-ended Elizabeth Wegner, after his foot slipped off the brake. Jones had approximately $100 in damage, Vansice had approximately $500 and Wegner had approximately $200. He was cited and released to appear.

• Brandon W. McConnell, 27, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called to Walmart at 12:51 p.m. Nov. 14. Officers met with the loss prevention employees at Walmart who said that they saw McConnell take price tags off of sunglasses and put them in his coat. McConnell admitted to taking the items. The total value was $23.54. He was cited and released to appear.

• Corena L. Sholley, 53, of Newton, is charged with domestic abuse assault and assault on persons in certain occupations after authorities were called to 306 E. Eighth St. S. #1 at 9:29 p.m. Nov. 16. Officers spoke with the victim who alleged Sholley had scratched him with marks visible on his chest and right wrist. Sholley was resistant when she was being arrested and after she was at the jail, scratched the jailer resulting in injury. She was taken the Jasper County Jail.
