Former Newton man takes first, second place in Toastmasters contests

BLOOMINGTON, MINN. — Dan Livengood, vice president of St. Croix Promotions and Retail, Inc. in Bloomington, Minn., was awarded Second Place for a Table Topics impromptu speaking contest at the District Finals in Rochester, Minn., recently.

Livengood started his public speaking contest journey to the Oct. 31 finals by taking First Place in both Humorous Speaking and Table Topics Impromptu speaking category contests at the club level, where he then advanced to the local Area 7 contest and took First Place in both categories as well. He later took first place in the Central Division for Table Topics and ended with Second Place in the finals in the same category.

“We’re excited to have Dan represent our club,” said David Schaal, the club’s mentor and Area 7 Governor. “As a member of our club, ‘Luncheon Linguists,’ his burst of energy, experience, and linguistic skills, helps breathe new life into the club. Likewise, I’m impressed with the rest of our members’ passion to follow his enthusiasm in succeeding their goals to better communication and leadership.”

Livengood was a member of the local iSPEAK club that meets every Friday at Noon in Skiff Medical Center’s In-service room located on the lower level. Livengood moved to the Twin Cities in April 2014 to accept his position as VP of Sales and Marketing. He and his wife LeAnn have one son, Adam who resides in Seattle, Wash. They live in Chaska, Minn.
