• Joshua L. Wielard, 25, of Grinnell, was arrested on two warrants for possession of contraband in a correctional institution and violation of probation Thursday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Noah L. Amerson, 39, of Newton, is charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness and domestic abuse assault after authorities were called to 222 W. Ninth St. S. at 11:45 p.m. Thursday. Officers were called about a domestic assault and spoke with the victim who alleged Amerson kicked in the back door, pushed her and assaulted her boyfriend. The boyfriend had large lumps on his head and she was red on her face and arms. Amerson admitted to hitting the boyfriend. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Nathaniel J. Sjaardema, 25, of Reasnor, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities pulled him over at 100 E. Seventh St. N. at 11:13 p.m. Nov. 10. Officers found that he did not have a valid driver’s license and had active warrants. While searching the vehicle, officers found a syringe and a bag containing meth. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Paul L. Harris, 26, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called to 1324 First Ave. E. at 4:04 p.m. Nov. 11. Officers spoke with an employee who said Harris tried to conceal a bottle of liquor and leave the store without paying for it. It was valued at $13.41. He was cited and released to appear.

• Eugenia K. Schultz, 44, of Newton, is charged with driving while license suspended after authorities pulled her over in the 1100 block of South Eight Avenue East for having a headlight out at 5:51 p.m. Friday. She was cited and released to appear.

• Ashley N. Richardson, 22, of Des Moines, was arrested on a Jasper County Warrant for probation violation after authorities were called to 215 N. Second Ave. E. at 11:53 a.m. Saturday. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Keith McCollum, 18, of Newton, was arrested on a Jasper County Warrant for failure to appear on a disorderly conduct charge after authorities were called to 213 W. Fourth St. S. at 2:20 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jacob A. Chamberlin, 19, of Newton, is charged with forgery after authorities were called to Casey’s at 1018 First Ave. E. at 9:49 p.m. Nov. 4. Officers spoke with an employee who said that Chamberlin purchased a $60 AT&T card using two different cards for payment. He did not have permission to use the cards that had been stolen from a vehicle a few hours before. Chamberlin was located at 407 E. 12th St. S. at 3:34 p.m. Friday. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
