Lois M. Holder

Lois M. Holder, 85, of Baxter, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. A celebration of life and coffeetime will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 16 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Jasper County Animal Rescue League or the Donor’s Choice may be left at the funeral home.

Lois, the daughter of Oren and Alice (Buwalda) Postma, was born on April 29, 1929, in Pella. She graduated from Newton High School in 1947. Lois was united in marriage with Ulin Holder on Dec. 21, 1947, and was a dedicated homemaker. They made their home in many locations across the United States before she moved back to Jasper County in 2007. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and was very close to her siblings and nieces and nephews.

Those left to honor Lois’ memory are her siblings, Rosalie Berry of Baxter; Lucille (Jim) Sheesley of Colfax, Jerry Postma of Rhodes, and William (Gloria) Postma of Newton; brother-in-law, Buzz Flake of Newton; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ulin Holder; son, Jerry Holder; and siblings, John Postma, Marcella Flake, Donna Rose, and Edward Postma.
