MAT hosts two-day camp

This year’s MAT Fall Camp, hosted by MAT Tumbling and Trampoline, was one of the biggest ever.

The two-day camp brought in young athletes from Newton and the surrounding towns. It offered a glimpse into the world of Power Tumbling and Olympic Trampoline. Participants were divided into groups and rotated through the different equipment and apparatus used in the sport of Power Tumbling and Olympic Trampoline.

This camp saw athletes tumble down the floor learning cartwheels, round offs, handstands and even some limbering skills. Campers also rolled down mats, jumped into the foam block pit, and raced through obstacle courses.

The fun continued on Saturday with many participants experiencing an Olympic-sized Trampoline for the first time. Athletes bounced high in the air while learning different shapes and skills on the trampoline.

Before leaving, all participants received a goody bag with a healthy snack. MAT hosts two to three camps per year that are open to the public. The next Camp will be Dec. 26-27. Information on classes, camps, and activities, call 641-752-6373 or visit www.mattumblers.com
