Robert A. Maxwell

Robert A. Maxwell, 63, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines following a long battle with cancer. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1 at Grimes United Methodist Church. A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Ashton Cemetery near Baxter.

Bob was born Nov. 3, 1950, in Marshalltown, to Forrest and Betty (Main) Maxwell. He was raised on a farm near Mingo. Bob graduated from Mingo High School in 1969, and Iowa State University in 1973. He worked as a commercial electrician for Waldinger Corporation.

Bob is survived by his wife of 41 years, Joan (Marsh) Maxwell; his children, Jay (Sara) Maxwell of Kihei, Hawaii, and Jana (David) Schwerdtfeger of Carlisle; his father, Forrest Maxwell of Baxter; and his siblings, Donald Maxwell of Baxter, Marsha Jo Samuels of Durant, and Barbara (Dennis) Dutton of Council Bluffs. He was preceded in death by his mother.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Iles-Westover Chapel in Des Moines.
