Ernst is the right choice for Iowa

Dan Malliet

President Obama recently said, “I am not on the ballot this fall. But make no mistake: [my] policies are on the ballot. Every single one of them.”

A vote for Bruce Braley for the U.S. Senate means staying the course Obama has set.

It’s hard to ignore the president’s words and they are troubling because the country is not doing as well as the President would have us think. We are more vulnerable to our enemies and the economic recovery is weak.

Joni Ernst is for a different direction. She focuses on free enterprise, not government, as the way to get the economy moving again. As a soldier, she understands that a strong military promotes peace and makes our country safe. She wants decisions that affect Iowa to be made by Iowans, not Washington bureaucrats. And Ernst believes the first step to immigration reform is to secure our borders and stop the dangerous wave of people entering the U.S. illegally.

Ernst is also for a balanced approach to our energy future and understands the importance of fossil fuels to our economy as well as future renewable energy sources. Her view fits so well with Iowa, corn, the environment and jobs.

Ernst is for a positive change and has earned my vote. Like many fair-minded Iowans, I am not against Braley and have no smear or bad words for him. I just find Joni Ernst, her beliefs and life experience, is right for Iowa and the country at this moment in history.

Please vote.
