Iowa firefighters revive kittens after house fire

WEST DES MOINES — West Des Moines firefighters and medics say they have revived three kittens and one cat after a house fire.

The West Des Moines Fire Department says the felines were pulled from the burning home on Monday. Firefighters say they were suffering from smoke inhalation. First responders used oxygen masks to resuscitate the animals. One kitten was taken to an area veterinarian for further treatment.

They say a second adult cat was found dead inside the home.

It’s unclear what caused the fire. Firefighters say the blaze caused about $50,000 in damage.
