Olive Jane Lamb Questers

The Olive Jane Lamb Questers chapter met at the home of Susan Hawk on Oct. 9. President Linda Kirchhoff presided over the business meeting.

Hawk gave a program on the time line of children’s literature. William Carter was England’s first printer of the series of books of King Arthur. Hornbooks, little wooden paddles on which were pasted lesson sheets, were the first text books.

The Newberry Medal Awards was started as a tribute for good children’s literature. The time line included Grimm’s popular stories, fairy tales of Hans Christian Anderson, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Black Beauty, Little Women and many others. Susan shared with the group her collection of favorite children’s stories. Members also brought their favorite childhood books.

Refreshments were served by the hostess.
