Cedar Rapids loses homeless shelter for men

CEDAR RAPIDS — The closing of Cedar House Shelter means fewer beds are available for homeless men in Cedar Rapids.
The 16-bed shelter opened in 2001.

It closed late last month after a merger with another group fell through because of problems with the Cedar House building. Judy Wolfe, who leads the Cedar House board, says the board wasn’t comfortable with continuing operations in the building, and there wasn’t enough money to move to a new spot.
