Tigerhawks post several career-best times at Montezuma

MONTEZUMA — Colfax-Mingo’s cross country teams had one of their best meets of the season Thursday night at the Montezuma Invitational.

The girls team tied for second in a six-team race while the boys placed sixth out of seven teams.

“It was really a great night all the way around for our team,” Colfax-Mingo head coach Zach Tomas said.

Dakota Hostetter won the girls race and did so in convincing fashion, crossing the finish line in 16 minutes and 37 seconds. South Tama’s Allison Yuska, who placed second, was more than one minute behind Hostetter.

Ivy Moore and Kennedi Hostetter both placed in the top 10 of a 57-runner field. Moore came in eighth in 18:26.21 and Kennedi Hostetter ninth in 18:28.36.

Cassie Craig, who finished 36th, crossed the finish line in a career-best time of 20:49.69.

Cameron Warner paced the boys with a career-best time of 19:29 and a 12th-place finish. Will Dunsbergen and KC Huffman posted times of 23:30.30 and 24:04.22, both improving their times from the same race a year ago. Cameron Lantry also posted a season-best time of 24:53.23 for the Tigerhawks.
