Newton woman taken by helicopter after Friday crash

COLFAX — A Newton woman has been released from the hospital after she was transported to Methodist Medical Center in Des Monies by helicopter Friday following a single vehicle crash at 9:10 a.m. near Reasnor.

The helicopter transported Katelynn Tibben, 23, from the frontage road near Interstate 80 entrance ramp155 in Colfax at approximately 10:20 a.m. The victim was brought from the accident site to Colfax by Newton ambulance.

Jasper County Chief Sheriff's Deputy Duane Rozendaal said the subject was traveling southbound on on Highway S74 South, more commonly know as Reasnor Road, when she lost control of her 2004 Dodge Stratus. According to the report, Tibben failed to negotiate a curve in the highway and drove off the shoulder, vaulted into a farm field and came to rest in a roadside ditch.

There were no passengers in the vehicle, and Rozendaal said investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
