Kelley has served Jasper County well

I am writing in support of Dan Kelley whom I feel has done a worthy job as a state representative. I’ve known Rep. Kelley since we attended Newton High School together, and have always found him to be extremely conscientious, focused and accessible to discussion. When he replaced incumbent Paul Bell in the House of Representatives in 2011, I knew he had large shoes to fill, and I have watched him fill these shoes admirably over the past few years.

While serving, Kelley sits on more committees than any other member in the Iowa House, including Environmental Protection, Agriculture, Ways and Means, State Government and International Relations. He also serves as a ranking member of the Administration and Regulation Appropriations Subcommittee. He is an ex-officio member of the Iowa Parks Foundation Trust Board and serves on the Capitol Planning Commission which plans the future of the Capitol Campus Complex.

Rep. Kelley is proud of Newton, and has served Jasper County well. Unlike many members of the House, he has maintained a perfect attendance record and he readily volunteers his time for extra work. Kelley is not running a negative campaign against his opponent, which is a shining example of his character. With Newton’s best interest in mind, he stands by his voting record.

When you cast your ballot on Nov. 4, I feel that Dan Kelley is the logical choice. He has represented the 29th District with pride and he will continue to do so. We, as voters, don’t have time for condescending politics, and a vote for his opponent — an attorney from Des Moines — would not be the right choice for Jasper County.
