Newton Police Department

• Russell A. Lindley, 40, of Newton, is charged with criminal trespass after authorities were called to the railroad bridge at Highway 14 and Highway 6 at 1:14 p.m. Sunday. Officers observed Lindley driving on the railroad tracks and pulled him over. He claimed he did not know it was illegal. He also did not have a valid motorcycle license. He was cited and released to appear.

• A 16-year-old juvenile is charged with following too closely after authorities were called to the 600 block of South 13th Avenue East at 1:32 p.m. Friday. The victim was driving and slowed due to traffic and was struck from behind by the juvenile. The victim’s car sustained approximately $200 in damage while the juvenile’s vehicle had approximately $1,200. She was cited and released to appear.

• Sarah H. Black, 46, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called to Wal-Mart at 11:23 a.m. Friday. Officers spoke with the loss prevention employee at Wal-Mart who said she saw Black place several items in her purse as well as several drinks in a bag of already purchased items. Black then attempted to leave the store without paying. Total value of the items was $26.75. Tuesday Black turned herself in to the police and was cited and released to appear.

Sheriff’s Office

• A 15-year-old juvenile is charged with interference with official acts and possession/purchase of alcohol by person under 18 after authorities were called to 1061 Highway T-12 N. at 12:22 a.m. Sunday. Officers were called to a party where there was alcohol and illegal drugs being consumed. The juvenile ran into the woods and was later identified by a friend who was with the officers. She was cited and released to appear.

• A 15-year-old juvenile is charged with interference with official acts and possession/purchase of alcohol by person under 18 after authorities were called to 1061 Highway T-12 N. at 12:22 a.m. Sunday. Officers were called to a party where there was alcohol and illegal drugs being consumed. The juvenile ran into the field and was later identified by her ID, which was left behind in her vehicle. She was cited and released to appear.

• A 16-year-old juvenile is charged with interference with official acts and possession/purchase of alcohol by person under 18 after authorities were called to 1061 Highway T-12 N. at 12:22 a.m. Sunday. Officers were called to a party where there was alcohol and illegal drugs being consumed. The juvenile ran into the field and was later identified by her ID, which was left at the party. She was cited and released to appear.

• A 17-year-old juvenile is charged with interference with official acts and permit under 18 to consume/possess on property after authorities were called to 1061 Highway T-12 N. at 1 a.m. Sunday. Officers were called to a party where there was alcohol and illegal drugs being consumed. The juvenile fled the property but her car was found on the property and was impounded. A box of wine was found in the back seat of the vehicle.

• A 15-year-old juvenile is charged with interference with official acts and possession/purchase of alcohol by person under 18 after authorities were called to 1061 Highway T-12 N. at 12:22 a.m. Sunday. Officers were called to a party where there was alcohol and illegal drugs being consumed. The juvenile ran into the field and was later identified by her ID, which was left behind in her bag. She was cited and released to appear.

• A 16-year-old juvenile is charged with permit under 18 to consume/possess on property after authorities were called to 1061 Highway T-12 N. at 1 a.m. Sunday. Officers were called to a party where there was alcohol being consumed. Officers asked the juvenile if she had drank any alcohol and she admitted to drinking half a bottle. She had a BAC of .010. She was cited and released to appear.

• Nicholas C. Yardley, 18, of Newton, is charged with possession/purchase of alcohol by person 18/19/20 and interference with official acts after authorities were called to 1061 Highway T-12 N. at 12:22 a.m. Sunday. Officers were called to a party where there was alcohol and illegal drugs being consumed. Yardley ran into the field and was later identified by his vehicle as well as another person who attended the party. He was cited and released to appear.

• Harrison R. McCarey, 18, of Newton, is charged with possession/purchase of alcohol by person 18/19/20 and interference with official acts after authorities were called to 1061 Highway T-12 N. at 12:22 a.m. Sunday. Officers were called to a party where there was alcohol and illegal drugs being consumed. McCarey ran into the field and was later identified by his vehicle that was left on the property. He later admitted he was at the party and that he knew of the alcohol and drugs. He was cited and released to appear.

• A 17-year-old juvenile is charged with permit under 18 to consume/possess on property after authorities were called to 1061 Highway T-12 N. at 1:00 a.m. Sunday. Officers were called to a party where there was alcohol and illegal drugs being consumed. The juvenile said he did not drink any alcohol but upon searching his vehicle an opened can of alcohol was found as well as a cooler of unopened cans of beer. He was cited and released to appear.

• Lonnie D. Fields, 49, of Colfax, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities pulled over his vehicle in the 4800 block of Highway F-48 West at 2:04 a.m. Saturday. During the traffic stop, Fields admitted to having drug paraphernalia. After searching the vehicle officers found two glass smoking pipes and a digital scale. They all had a white residue on them and Fields admitted to being a meth user. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Austin M. Smith, 19, of Newton, is charged with operating while under the influence and possession of controlled substance — marijuana after authorities pulled over his vehicle in the 2500 block of Highway F-48 West at 2:03 a.m. Sunday. While speaking with Smith, officers saw Smith had blood-shot, watery eyes and smelled of alcohol. His speech was also slowed and he had a delayed reaction. He admitted to drinking and smoking marijuana before being pulled over and marijuana was found in his pocket. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Nyanza E. O’harra, 23, of Newton, is charged with carrying weapons, possession of controlled substance — marijuana, driving while license suspended, no insurance and possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities pulled over her vehicle in the 1700 block of North 11th Avenue East at 10:54 p.m. Friday. Officers noticed a smell of marijuana coming from her purse and after searching the vehicle found a dagger as well as marijuana and a glass smoking pipe. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Nicholas J. McAlister, 24, of Newton, is charged with driving while barred, leaving the scene of an accident, open container and failure to maintain control after authorities pulled over his vehicle in the 9400 block of North Eighth Avenue West at 4:00 a.m. Saturday. McAlister was driving a vehicle when he lost control and then fled the scene. The passenger in the vehicle was injured and told officers McAlister was also injured. Officers found a blood soaked shirt that the passenger said was McAlister’s. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
