Darrell Lee Turner

Darrell Lee Turner, 72, of Prairie City, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at his home. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the John Stoddard Cancer Center and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of Chauncey Ray and Flossie May (Black) Turner, Darrell was born on June 26, 1942, in Marshalltown. He graduated from Riceville High School. On April 4, 1975, he was united in marriage to Glenda St. John in Newton. Darrell worked at Maytag and retired in 2000. He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Glenda; three daughters, Michelle (Kevin) Feuring, Rachelle (Jim) Martin and Tonya (Chris T.) Sloan; eight grandchildren, Eric (Amber) Thomas, Renee (Greg) Blomstrom, Alex Feuring, Rachel Feuring, Kaylie Martin, Reece Martin, Turner Sloan and Jaden Sloan; and two great-grandchildren, Avery and Kasey Thomas.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and siblings, Norma Christensen, Lyle Turner, Kenny Turner, Catherine Billman and a sister in infancy.
