Margaret Marie Brandt

Margaret Marie Brandt, 60, of Colfax, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at Altoona Nursing and Rehab.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter with burial following at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be place one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the NAMI — Iowa or the John Stoddard Cancer Center. The daughter of James R. and Ila O. (Kono) Brandt, Margaret was born on Feb. 4, 1954, in Newton. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter. She enjoyed fishing, bowling and arcade games.

Those left to honor her memory include her mother, Ila Brandt; brother, David (Vickie) Brandt of Baxter; brother-in-law, John Edwards of Des Moines; nephew, Andrew Brandt; nieces, Angie (Ron) Fleenor and Anna (Shane) Palmer; great-nieces and nephews, Mallory, John, Emma and Gracie Fleenor and Nathan, Erica, Kimmy, Michelle and Kaylee Palmer. Preceding her in death was her father, James, in 1999; and a sister, Sharon Brandt-Edwards in 2014.
