Newton Police Department

• Adrien L. Fowler, 26, of Newton, is charged with driving while license suspended after authorities pulled her over in the 1200 block of West 19th Street South at 2:43 p.m. Tuesday. The officer knew Fowler was under suspension. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Cheryle D. Templeman, 44, of Newton, is charged with yielding on left turn after authorities were called to the intersection of First Avenue West and West Ninth Street North at 7:55 a.m. Wednesday. Templeman was stopped facing north and Misty Levesque was stopped facing south on West Ninth Street North. Levesque said she was inching forward to check the eastbound traffic and Templeman believed Levesque was allowing her to move first when Levesque, who was driving straight through the intersection, hit Templeman, who was turning left. Levesque’s vehicle sustained approximately $400 in damage while Templeman’s had approximately $2,500.

• Bradd L. Vancannon, 39, of Newton, is charged with unsafe backing on highway after authorities were called to East 12th Street North at 4:23 p.m. Saturday. Robert E. Thorson was traveling north on East 12th Street North when Vancannon backed out in front on him. Thorson's vehicle sustained approximately $3,000 in damage while Vancannon had
approximately $1,000. He was cited an released to appear.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office

• Alisha J. Springer, 19, of Kellogg, is charged with controlled substance violation, failure to affix drug stamp and possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities were called to the 12000 block of US 6 and US 6 East at 1:13 a.m. Saturday. Officers pulled Springer over for a traffic violation when they smelled a strong odor of marijuana. Springer admitted to smoking marijuana and there was a pipe along with three bags of marijuana in the car. There were also additional bags, a digital scale and a marijuana grinder. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
