CMB rebounds, beats Saydel

SAYLOR — Bridget Hurley and Payge Jurgens tied for a team-high nine kills as Collins-Maxwell/Baxter earned its first win of the season Thursday night in four sets (25-23, 25-17, 19-25, 27-25) over host Saydel.

The Raiders “rebounded very well” in the words of head coach Scott Ranck from their season-opening loss to Lynnville-Sully on Tuesday. CMB’s movement and communication were better against Saydel, as was the Raiders’ passing.

“Some of the things that contributed to the loss on Tuesday were not present in the win over Saydel,” Ranck said. “We still need to work on some things, but there was good improvement between our first match of the year and tonight’s match.”
