Search for Library

Items with Facebook

You can now access the Newton Public Library’s catalog from Facebook.

Go to the library's page "Newton Library Iowa" or www.facebook.com/NewtonPublicLibraryIowa and scroll down until you see "Library Search" on the left-hand side of the screen in the "Apps" category. You can then click on it, log-in to your account, renew items and find items all through the catalog. If you have questions, call the information desk at (641) 792-4108.

Listen, Sing & Dance

A music time is planned for at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the library meeting room for babies, toddlers and preschoolers accompanied by an adult or caregiver.

The program will be given by Connie Robertson. A snack will be provided. No registration needed. Questions? Call Youth Services Librarian Phyllis Peter at (641) 792-4108.

Board Game Night

The library will have its first Board Game Night at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

The event is open to all ages, but children must be accompanied by an adult. Board games will be scattered around the library meeting room, and visitors are encouraged to play any game available. Snacks will be provided.

Download Free Music

from the Library

Individuals may download up to three songs per week or one song and a music video from the Freegal database.

Every Monday, three new downloads will again be available. Go to www.newton.lib.ia.us, click on Freegal, log in with your up-to-date library card, and explore the 7 million songs from 28,000 recording labels. You also can get the app for your mobile device. Need help? Call the information desk, (641) 792-4108.

Calling all Teens

You will be seeing new changes in the teen section. New teen or YA books will now have their own section at the beginning of the teen section and will be marked with an orange dot. This will make it easier for you to find new releases by your favorite authors and browse. Keep an eye out for new furniture too.

iPad Basics Class

Join us for an iPad Basics Class at 6 p.m. Sept. 22 in the library meeting room.

Learn how to download ebooks free through the library, connect to Wi-Fi, change settings and sync email. Bring your fully charged iPad, Apple ID and password, and your library card (if you have one). Participants do not need to register for this class.

Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/NewtonPublicLibraryIowa or on Twitter @NewtonPubLib. Find out what is happening at the library besides our programs.
