Former county treasurer gets probation

MARENGO (AP) — A former Iowa County treasurer has been given three years of probation for stealing from the county.

Online court records say 54-year-old Kimberly Tanke also was given a deferred judgment on Tuesday. Tanke, of Williamsburg, had pleaded guilty to felony theft.

A private auditing firm and Iowa County officials say more than $62,000 was taken between 2006 and 2010, when Tanke served as county treasurer. Tanke recently served on the Iowa County Board of Supervisors but cited personal reasons for resigning on Jan. 20.
