• A 16-year-old juvenile is charged with interference with official acts after authorities were called to 1024 W. Third St. S. at 7:18 p.m. Aug. 21. Officers were called on reference to a fight involving 12 individuals. The juvenile refused to sit down after being told and would not reveal his name. The juvenile was cited and released to appear.

• Crystal K. Arguello, 30, of Newton is charged with following too close after authorities were called to the 500 block of South 15th Avenue West at 7:19 p.m. Friday. William Madoll was stopped when Arguello came from behind and was unable to stop. She tried to go around Madoll but hit the back driver’s side causing approximately $300 in damage. Arguello had approximately $900 in damage. She was cited and released to appear.

• Danny P. Bergloff, 51, of Newton is charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of marijuana after authorities were called to 1500 First Ave. E. at 11:36 p.m. Friday. Officers pulled over Bergloff for not having any taillights when they smelled a strong odor of alcohol. Bergloff had slurred speech and trouble finding documents. He had a BAC of .194 and admitted to drinking. While searching his vehicle, officers found a bag with marijuana inside. He was cited and released to appear.

• Darrin J. Hannon, 46, of Newton was found to have a Des Moines warrant after authorities pulled him over in the 400 block of South Sixth Avenue East. at 6:37 p.m. Friday. Hannon had a brake light out when officers discovered that he had an outstanding warrant. He was warned for the brake light and transported to the Polk County Line and turned over.

• John A. Hardie, 23, of Newton is charged with violation of a no contact order after authorities were called to Dollar General Store at 5:52 p.m. Saturday. After arriving officers found him in the presence of the person who had a no contact order. He was cited and released to appear.

• Kelly N. Hardie, 27, of Newton is charged with fifth-degree theft and simulating public intoxication first offense after authorities were called to Dollar General Store at 5:52 p.m. Saturday. Employees suspected that Hardie had taken items from the store. She had very slurred speech and was unable to follow instructions. The total value of the items was $18.20. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Elijah P. Harmon, 33, is charged with possession of marijuana third offense after authorities were called to the 400 block of North Second Avenue East at 10:06 p.m. Monday. Officers were doing an extra patrol when they observed Harmon in a backyard. When seen, Harmon ran and tried to hide in some bushes. Officers found Harmon and also a jar with marijuana in it. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jessica M Hutton-Lomeli, 25, of Newton was found to have a Jasper County warrant for failure to appear on a theft charge after authorities located her at 1453 N. 11th Ave. E. #2F. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Katelund E. Jeffrey, 18, of Newton is charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief after authorities were called to the 400 block of South Third Avenue West at 2:02 a.m. Monday. Officers were called after a tire had been popped by Jeffrey. She was in a verbal altercation when she said she wanted to see an unknown victim’s blood on a knife. She then took the knife and stabbed the tire, causing $250 in damage. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Anessa R. Johnson, 28, of Bussey is charged with driving while license suspended and warned for having a brake light out after authorities pulled over her car in the 200 block of South Second Avenue West at 11:20 p.m. Friday. Officers pulled her over for a brake light out and found that she was under suspension. She was cited and released to appear.

• Jeremi L. Jones, 25, of Newton is charged with serious assault and possession of controlled substance after authorities were called to 3387 Highway F48 W. at 7:07 p.m. Saturday. Officers were called on a fight between Jones and the victim. Witnesses said Jones started the fight and the victim had injuries to his head, arms and knees. Jones was also found to have marijuana on him. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Vickie L. Lane, 61, of Newton is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called to the Newton 66 at 3:30 p.m. Friday. After attempting to use two different pumps and having her credit card denied, Lane pumped $52.64 of gas into her vehicle and tried to pay inside. After her card was denied again, she waited then pulled away in her vehicle. Officers found her and she admitted that she had time to go back and pay for the gas. She was cited and released to appear.

• Donald W. Lewis, 56, of Colfax is charged with failure to obey a stop sign after authorities were called to the 100 block of East Fourth Street North at 8:57 p.m. Friday. Eugene Porter was traveling southbound when Lewis ran through a red light and was struck by Porter. A passenger with Porter was taken to Skiff Hospital for minor injuries. Porter had approximately $1,600 in damage while Lewis had approximately $200. He was cited and released to appear.

• Jacob R. Nicholson, 26, of Prairie City is charged with public intoxication after authorities were called to the fire department at 7:35 p.m. Friday. Officers found Nicholson at the fire department where he had come to turn himself in to serve two days in the Jasper County Jail. He smelled strongly of alcohol and admitted to consuming a lot of alcohol. After taking a test, Nicholson had a BAC of .222. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

•  Rodney L. Savage, 54, of Newton is charged with public intoxication after authorities were called to 101 W. Fourth St. S. at 9:46 p.m. Sunday. Officers had previously contacted Savage during the day when he was on his property intoxicated. He was told that if he went into the public he would be arrested. He took a cab to the Scoreboard Bar where he had bloodshot, watery eyes and smelled of alcohol. Savage waived his right to a chemical test. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
