We would like to thank all of our supporters and those that donated for making the program such a success. Thank you to Hy-Vee, Domino’s Pizza, Culver’s, McDonald’s, Iowa Cubs, Blank Park Zoo, IPTV, Newton Manufacturing and the Center for Arts & Artists.

We really appreciate our program volunteers, Jill Bartello, Darcy Soule, Colleen Sherriff, Eugene Bryant, Barbara Kaldenburg, Sheryl Carter, Farm Safety for Just Kids and Steve Daily. Thanks also go out to our wonderful volunteers Echo Downs, Courtney Claussen, Savannah Eadens, Kayla Butterbrodt and Chris Noel.

Download Free Music

from the Library

Individuals may download up to three songs per week or one song and a music video from the Freegal database.

Every Monday, three new downloads will again be available! Go to www.newton.lib.ia.us, click on Freegal, log in with your up-to-date library card, and explore the 7 million songs from 28,000 recording labels. You also can get the app for your mobile device. Need help? Call the information desk, (641) 792-4108.

PINS coming

to Library Accounts

Starting Sept. 2, logging in to the library catalog will require a four-digit PIN.

When you access your library account, renew your materials online, or place a hold, you will be asked for your library number and the PIN. You will be able to set or change your PIN yourself through ‘My Account’ in the library catalog. Our downloadables databases, Freegal and Wilbor, will require your PIN as well. It all starts on Sept. 2.

Book Sale by Friends

of the Library

This week, the Friends of the Library will be selling books by old and new “classic” authors including Shakespeare, Honore de Balzac, Emile Zola, Lewis Carroll, D. H. Lawrence, John Berendt, John Cheever and many others.

A number of poetry books and a few very old school books will also be available. Check out the sales cart, which is located directly across from the circulation desk in the Newton Public Library. Book prices will begin at $3 on Monday and end at $1 on Friday!

Smoothie Time

Join us at 6 p.m. Thursday in the library meeting room for a special program on making and sharing green smoothie recipes. Stop in to try something new and healthy! This program is aimed at teens and adults. No registration needed.

Participants will create a resume and learn how to make their resumes look professional. Register for workshop, from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the library meeting room, by calling the information desk at (641) 792-4108.
