Boulder Inn & Suites finding success in first year of business

Since opening just more than a year ago, the Boulder Inn & Suites has seen a steady occupancy rate with a big boost in late spring thanks to the Iowa Speedway. Located at 4222 S. 22nd Ave. E., the hotel is in a prime location just off of Interstate 80 and with a view of the speedway.

“Right about May is when we started picking up a lot, coenciding with the schedule at the race track,” Angie Bolinger, manager said. “We were really busy, we were completely packed all of the race weekends. Definently full and busy.”

With race season coming to a close, Bolinger said they are looking at offering different specials to attract customers.

“We are looking at a girls weekend with massages, mani-pedis and wine tasting, so we’ll have different specials throughout the year now,” Bolinger said.

The hotel also has a conference room, located on the lower level, with a picturesque view of the speedway as well as the rolling fields and a pond.

“We rent that (conference room) out for different events, bridal shower, baby showers. We just had the chamber of commerce (breakfast) meeting last week,” Bolinger said. “During the meeting there were deer up on the hill, they came out at the perfect time.” The hotel is also looking to work with local businesses who may need to accomodate over night guests or employees in inclement weather.

Boulder Inn & Suites is an Iowa chain of hotels with six locations currently as well as a new location opening in September and another currently breaking ground. The chain has stayed out of the big cities with locations in Dennison, Polk City, Lake View, Okoboji, Atlantic, Fort Madison and Newton.
