Middle school softball team finishes strong season

Newton’s middle school softball A-team did not lose a game in its 2014 summer season. The Cardinals went 11-0-1. They ended the season with a tie game against Oskaloosa.

Newton’s A-team won the West Marshall tournament. The B-team only lost two games this season.

There were 31 players out from the Newton seventh and eighth grades.

“The strong number and all the experience made for the great season for the team,” said Todd Lucas, team coach. Lucas was assisted in coaching the team by Jennifer Mouchka.
