Newton Police Department

• Jeremy N. Waltemeyer, 39, of State Center is charged with public intoxication after authorities were called to 1200 W. 18th St. S. at 11:06 p.m. Monday. Officers arrived at Casey’s west after Waltemeyer threatened his family as they drove northbound on Highway 14. He was found with slurred speech and having a hard time keeping his balance. The officers also found seven empty beer cans inside the vehicle. Waltemeyer submitted a breath test resulting in a BAC of .280. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• A 17-year-old female from Pleasant Hill is charged with possession/consumption of alcohol by someone under 18 after authorities were called to West 148th Street North and North 89th Avenue West at 11:10 p.m. Thursday. She was found to be drinking at a party, which was confirmed by a breath test. She was cited and released to appear in court.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office

• Kenneth L. James, 41, of Montezuma is charged with operating while intoxicated after authorities stopped him in the 9000 block of Highway T33 South at 1:28 a.m. Sunday. Officers observed an open can of beer, blood-shot and water eyes as well as a strong odor of alcohol. He consented to a breath test where he blew over the legal limit at .133. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
