Newton Police Department

• Hannah R. Ford, 20, of Newton, was charged Thursday with nine counts of fraud after authorities received a report of credit card fraud on June 22. Police determined the victim’s credit card was used by another at Kum & Go, Hy-Vee Gas and Wal-Mart between June 6 and June 16 on nine separate occasions, resulting in a total of $414.22 in charges. Ford was charged and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jonathan L. Gardner, 28, of Newton was charged with a probation violation after authorities were called to the adult probation office at 10:50 a.m. July 30. He was wanted on a Jasper County warrant and was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Brayden M. Boock, 19, of Baxter was charged with domestic abuse assault and assault after authorities were called to 200 W. State S. #2A in Baxter at 8:34 p.m. July 30. He was found to have been in an argument with is brother that became physical when a neighbor came over after hearing a young child screaming. The neighbor found Boock with the child in his arms, and believing the child was being harmed the neighbor took the child. Boock became angry and grabbed the child while pushing the neighbor to the floor. He got on top of her, and while trying to get him off she struck him with a large plastic mug. Boock had a cut on the head, and the victim sustained scrapes to the back of her legs. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Anthony Allan Hofer, 28, of Baxter was charged with child endangerment, public intoxication and violation of a no contact order after authorities were called to 215 Hazel Ave. in Newton at 10:05 p.m. July 29. Hofer was at a party drinking in the presence of three children while a protected party was present. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Brittany L. Mason, 20, of Gladbrook was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of unlawful possession of prescription drug after authorities were called to the 13200 block of Highway 163 westbound at 7:06 p.m. July 28. Mason was stopped for a traffic violation when a consent search found there were illegal drugs located inside her purse. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jesse L. Waterland, 33, of Melcher was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities were called to the 13200 black of Highway 163 westbound at 7:06 p.m. July 28. During a traffic stop Waterland was found to have a tin with drug substances and paraphernalia with him. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jason M. Winchell, 44, of Newton was charged with child endangerment and public intoxication after authorities were called to 215 Hazel Ave. in Newton at 10:05 p.m. July 29. Winchell was at a party drinking with three children present when he got in a physical altercation. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
