Julia A. (Russell) Lindsey, 87, of Newton died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the Newton Health Care Center in Newton. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials to the Immanuel Baptist Church may be left at the funeral home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home please add, Attn: Lindsey Family on the envelope.

Those left to honor Julia’s memory are her children, Bernard (Bette Ann) Lindsey, Jr. of Calamus and Lynda (Gerald) Vanden Hoek of Brentwood, Mo.; five grandchildren, Brittney (Andrew) Switala of Wake Forest, N.C., Bryan (Samantha) Vanden Hoek of Ozark, Mo., Jeff (Melinda) Vanden Hoek of Dallas, Texas, Chris (Catalina) Vanden Hoek of Brentwood, Mo., and Steve (Beth) Vanden Hoek of Brentwood, Mo.; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Bonnie (Howard) Quillen of Clarksville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard in 2012; and brother, Charles Russell.
