The Newton Main Street Partnership’s Economic Restructuring committee will host Jim Thompson, Main Street Iowa’s business specialist, on Wednesday.
Thompson will tour the Main Street District, lead a meeting with the Economic Restructuring committee, meet with city staff and elected officials and end the day with a public presentation from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. at Uncle Nancy’s Coffeehouse & Eatery.
At the presentation, Thompson will discuss Main Street economic development strategies and Newton’s demographic profile. The event is free and open to the public.
Thompson’s visit concludes the initial round of state visits with Newton Main Street’s four committees. A state visit on Oct. 2 will assess the progress of the committees.
