Newton Police Department

• Chad E. Berry, 32, of Newton was charged with driving while license suspended after authorities stopped him at 4:20 a.m. June 22 in the 400 block of South Fifth Avenue East for having an inoperable brake light and determined his license had been suspended. He was transported to the Jasper County Jail.

• Ryan C. Modlin, 26, of Newton was charged with operating while intoxicated after authorities stopped him at 1:04 a.m. June 21 in the 100 block of East 17th Street South for driving without headlights. He failed sobriety tests, and a breath test indicated a BAC of .182. He was released to appear in court.

• Dani R. Rogers, 39, of Newton was charged with driving while license suspended after authorities stopped her at 1:20 a.m. June 23 in the 2300 block of East 19th Street North for a registration violation and determined her license had been suspended. She was transported to the Jasper County Jail.

• Bradley E. Thurman, 28, of Newton was charged with driving while license suspended after authorities stopped him at 10:56 p.m. June 24 in the 1400 block of North Eighth Avenue East after recognizing him as driving with a suspended license. He was transported to the Jasper County Jail.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office

• Kenneth A. Patnaude, , of Brooklyn was charged with operating while intoxicated after authorities stopped him for a traffic violation at 12:02 a.m. June 22 in the 6100 block of Highway F-48 West. He failed sobriety tests, and a breath test indicated a BAC of .183. He was transported to the Jasper County Jail.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 16 and older.
