Reading On-the-Go

Take your reading on-the-go this summer with downloadable ebooks and audiobooks on your mobile devices with the help of the Newton Public Library.

Visit the library to learn how you can check out up to three ebooks or audiobooks to your smart phone, laptop, tablet or e-reader devices. Have a library at the tip of your fingers this summer! Ask about this service at the information desk or call the library at (641) 792-4108.

Renew Items Online

To renew items from the Newton Public Library online, visit www.newton.lib.ia.us, click the "Catalog" button, go to "My Account" and "Review My Account." Log in to your account by typing your library card number (no spaces) next to User ID and then click "Display User Information."

In your account, click on “Checkouts.” You can checkmark items you want to renew by clicking in the box to the left of each title. When done, click on “Renew Selected Items.” Your confirmation should appear.

Reminder: Items that will fail to renew include DVDs, pamphlets, magazines, items that have renewed once already, items already overdue and items that have a hold waiting. Need help? Call the Information Desk at (641) 792-4108

Card Game Night

Join us at 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 23, for Card Game Night in the library meeting room. Learn a new game, play a familiar game with friends or sit and socialize. Snacks will be provided.

Wilder Program

Attend a program about Laura Ingalls Wilder at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, in the library meeting room.

Humanities Iowa speaker Sarah Uthoff is an expert on author Laura Ingalls Wilder and will present a program on her life and beloved books for all ages. Children and adults who are fans of the books will enjoy her hour-long presentation. No registration is necessary.  This program is funded by the Humanities Iowa Speakers Bureau and is open to all ages.

Iowa State Insect

Zoo Open House

The Iowa State University Entomology Department is bringing insects and lots of them to the library!

The program is an open-house format, and you may come anytime between 10 a.m. and noon Wednesday, June 25, to view the insects and learn more about entomology (the study of insects).

Drop-In Craft for Adults

Make your own cement planter from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 28, in the library meeting room. The craft will last as long as materials last, and the program is open to adults.

Summer Reading Programs

We have Summer Reading Programs for adults, teens and children. You can register for any program up until the end of July.

Read Magazines

Online from Home

Full magazines are now offered through the Ebsco database that is available through the library’s catalog. Stop in to the library and ask at the information desk for the log-in and password to read magazines from your very own home.
