Gladys F. Lear

Gladys F. (Schulz) Lear, 90, of Newton died Friday, June 6, 2014, at the Nelson Manor Nursing Home in Newton.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at the First Christian Church, 314 E. Second St. N. in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at the church. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Lincoln, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, the Lear family requests memorials to the First Christian Church; memorials may be left at the church on the morning of the funeral service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home, 1115 E. 19th St. N. in Newton. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home; add, Attn: Lear Family on the envelope.            

Those left to honor Gladys’ memory are her children, LaVon Neely (Rick Hubbell) of Ankeny, Joyce (Marty) Ouverson of Ankeny, Vern Lear of Newton, Janice (Bill) Jenkins of Newton, Bernard Lear of Newton, Karen Schoenrock of Ankeny and Nancy (Randy) Erickson of Newton; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and her sister, June Hamilton of Grudy Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wayne in 1976; daughter Connie Jo; and brother Leonard Schulz.
