Area girl golfers end season in regional play

Colfax-Mingo junior Olivia Maggard, Prairie City-Monroe senior Cassidy Van Veen and Lynnville-Sully junior HJaley Hood competed in Iowa high school regional golf tournaments Tuesday. None of the three advanced to their respective state tournaments.

Maggard shot a 93 in the Class 2A Region 2 tournament at Quali Run Country Club in Corning. She finished sixth individually.

Hannan Gordon of Pleasantville was the 2A regional medalist with an 84 followed by Ellen Johnson of Riverside with an 86 and Kate Havens of Central Decatur with a 90. Aly Anderson and Ashley Bailey, both of Treynor, shot 92s and tied for fourth. Central Decatur was the team regional champion with a 375 and Pleasantville was second with a 391.

No information was received on Van Veen or Hood, but according to the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union website, neither area girl moved on. Van Veen played in Class 3A Region 2 action and Hood competed in Class 1A Region 3 play.
