Newton Police Department
• Miguel J. Barrett, 21, of Newton was charged with aggravated domestic assault after authorities responded to an assault complaint at 3:33 p.m. May 4 at 701 E. 25th St. S. He was charged for allegedly assaulting a woman and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
• Renae N. Clark, 25, of Knoxville was charged with fifth-degree theft and aiding and abetting May 3 in connection with an incident that occurred at 11:08 a.m. April 30 at Walmart. Clark was charged for allegedly stealing merchandise valued at $41.60 and then returning the items to the store, with help from another individual, to receive a gift card. She was transported to the Jasper County Jail.
• Deann L. Cormeny, 43, of Newton was charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities responded to a shoplifting complaint at 10:55 a.m. May 3 at Walmart. She was charged for allegedly stealing items valued at $44.14 and was released to appear in court.
• Danielle N. Grice, 24, of Newton was charged with operating while intoxicated, second offense, and driving while license suspended after authorities stopped her at 2 a.m. May 2 in the 700 block of East Seventh Street North for speeding. Police detected an odor of alcohol coming from her. She failed a sobriety test and refused a breath test. She was released to appear in court.
• Joseph K. Reusswig, 36, of Newton was charged with first-degree harassment after authorities received complaint of harassment at 4:30 a.m. May 3 at 903 E. Eighth St. S. Reusswig was charged for allegedly threatening to kill an adult male victim through phone and social media communication. He was transported to the Jasper County Jail.
• Luz M. Soto Camacho, 35, of Milan was cited with failure to obey a stop or yield sign after authorities responded to a two-vehicle accident at 10:51 a.m. April 30. Soto Camacho was traveling north on East 12th Street North when she entered the intersection at North Fourth Avenue West and collided with a westbound vehicle driven by Donna M. Jurgensen, 48, of Newton. Jurgensen was transported to Skiff Medical Center. Her vehicle sustained an estimated $2,500 damage and Soto Camacho’s an estimated $2,000 damage.
• Daniel J. Thomas, 30, of Newton was charged with simple assault after authorities responded to a report of a fight in progress at 10:49 p.m. May 3 at 405 First Ave. E. Thomas was charged for allegedly assaulting an adult male in front of Kum N Go by attempting to punch him in the face, causing no injuries. He was released to appear in court.
• Ross R. Wadzinski, 26, of Newton was charged with fourth-degree theft after authorities responded to a theft complaint at 5:02 p.m. May 1 at 730 W. 12th St. S. He was charged for allegedly stealing an Android phone valued at $100, a Google Samsung Nexus phone valued at $90 and a Bell Howell hearing aid valued at $20. He admitted to taking the items and was transported to the Jasper County Jail.
• Kristen L. Williams, 29, of Grinnell was charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were dispatched at 2:06 p.m. May 3 to Walmart in reference to a shoplifter. Williams was charged for allegedly taking items valued at $7.93 out of the store without purchasing them. She was released to appear in court.
• A 15-year-old Kellogg male and a 14-year-old Newton male each were charged with disorderly conduct after authorities responded to a complaint of a fight between two students in P.E. class at 12:02 p.m. May 2 at Newton Senior High School. They were referred to juvenile court services.
• A 14-year-old Newton female was charged with simple assault after authorities responded to an assault complaint at 10:40 p.m. May 2 at the Newton YMCA. She was charged for allegedly punching another girl and was referred to juvenile court services.
• An 8-year-old Newton female was charged with simple assault after authorities responded to a complaint at 3:52 p.m. April 22 in the 600 block of North Second Avenue West. The girl was charged for allegedly hitting another girl several times, pulling her hair, throwing her to the ground and slapping her after they got off the school bus. She was referred to juvenile court services.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 16 and older.
