L. Wayne Richards, 89, of Newton died Thursday, May 8, 2014, at the Newton Health Care Center in Newton.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 15, at the First Christian Church, 314 E. Second St. N. in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. A public Masonic service will be held at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his children, Janis (Michael) Free of Newton, Debra (Tom) Hinshaw of Lawrence, Kan., and John Richards of San Francisco, Calif.; and six grandchildren, including granddaughter Emily (Channa) Chhouy; his nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and his many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Janet in 2001; son Randy in 2000; two brothers, Chuck and Bob Richards; and sister, JoAnn Terrell.
