Volunteers, businesses and organizations are invited to help race fans “Get to Know Newton” during the Get to Know Newton 250 on Saturday, May 17, and Sunday, May 18, at the Iowa Speedway.
All volunteers will receive a free ticket to the race on the day they volunteer as well as a free “Proud to Know Newton” T-shirt.
Individuals who like meeting new people and are passionate about Newton to serve as “Get to Know Newton” ambassadors are needed to walk through the concourse and tailgating areas with Get to Know Newton materials and prizes. Volunteers also may be assigned to help with event set-up or organizations. If interested in volunteering, contact Nathan Unsworth at nathanu@newtongov.org.
During race weekend, the south end of the Iowa Speedway concourse will be transformed into “Get to Know Newton Street.” Get to Know Newton Street will be full of fun, family-friendly games and interactive activities and will feature local Newton businesses and organizations. Businesses and organizations are invited to set up booths and activities for a chance to meet race fans and help people “Get to Know Newton.” Booths must be staffed on both May 17 and 18.
