Area Internet provider Partner Communications Cooperative recently announced they have launched SmartLink Home Monitoring and Automation and is bringing this technology to Marshall, Jasper and Poweshiek counties.

“We like to think we’re beyond the cutting edge in our smart home capabilities,” said Donald Jennings, general manager Donald Jennings said. “We’re building integrated systems that control everything from HVAC and lights to door locks and even water systems.”

Jennings said SmartLink uses the Internet and a rules-based system to automate and control nearly anything in a home – and the system can be operated from a smart phone, tablet or computer. He said some of the company’s more novel uses of smart technology include helping customers monitor elderly loved ones – they get a text message if a relative doesn’t get out of bed by a certain time or open the medicine cabinet to take their pills.

Jennings said Partner is predicting rapid growth in the smart home industry, and is vying to be a statewide leader in smart product installation and service.
