PCM, Colfax-Mingo golfers compete

STATE CENTER – Two area teams competed in the West Marshall Boys Golf Tournament Monday night, with three individual players finishing in the top 10.

Prairie City-Monroe’s Devon Woody finished third individually in the 18-hole tournament at Lincoln Valley Golf Course. The Mustang shot a 73 on the par-72 course. Woody shot a 35 for an even par on the back nine.

Woody improved on his performance from Friday’s Bondurant-Farrar Invitational in Altoona, where he shot a 42 at the nine-hole tournament finishing 11th individually.

Teammate Justin Beener was not far behind in State Center, shooting a 77, finishing seventh overall in the individual standings.

The Mustangs finished third as a team out of 12 schools competing.

Colfax-Mingo’s Jimmy Abell finished eighth in individual play, one stroke behind PCM’s Beener, with a 78. Abell led the Tigerhawk boys Monday, shooting just two over par on the back nine with a 37.

For PCM, Ryan Jennings shot an 85, Wade Hill scored an 86, Reid Jenkins finished with an 88 and Chase Keuning round our the Mustang golfers with a score of 90.

C-M golfer MaCauley Mosher shot a 91 and Adam Teed finished with a score of 94. Tigerhawk Jake Jeter shot a 95, Mason Mosher finished with a 104 and Zevin Lander rounded out C-M with a 105.

At the B-F invite Friday, it was Beener who led the Mustangs with a final score of 37. PCM finished third out of five teams in Altoona. scoring a collective 160 at Terrance Hill Golf Course.

Jenkins came in two strokes behind Beener, with a score of 39. Hill tied with Woody Friday, shooting 42. Keuning finished with a 47, and Jennings rounded out the Mustang scores recording a 47.

The Tigerhawks’ top scorer in Altoona was Abell with 43. C-M placed fifth. McCauley Mosher posted a 48 for the Tigerhawks, Mason Mosher finished with a 50, Lander and Teed both shot 53 and Jeter carded a 54.

Both the C-M and PCM boys hit the links again on April 28 at 4 p.m. in a varsity meet at Gateway Golf Course in Monroe.
