Eagle golfers win home meet

OSKALOOSA — Taking on two Little Hawkeye Conference opponents, Pella Christian’s boys played their home golf course — Oskaloosa Golf Course — to a tee. The Eagles produced a four-man total of 171, winning by seven shots.

Dallas Center-Grimes was second with a 178. Oskaloosa had a 197.

Mason Howerzyl led the Eagles with a 39 for the nine-hole meet, which earned him medalist honors. Pella Christian’s Justin Stravers shot a 41, tying for the runner-up spot with a DCG golfer.

Graham Howerzyl carded a 45 and Mitch Forpma finished with a 46. Jason Holwerda came in at 48 followed by Jordan Pleima at 52.

The Eagle junior varsity also won, shooting a 209 to Dallas Center-Grimes’ 210 and Oskaloosa’s 242. Tanner Van Maanen topped the Pella Christian junior varsity with a 47.

Pella Christian is 2-1 on the season. The Eagles compete in Saturday’s Knoxville Invitational.
