Tigerhawks, Raiders compete in Girls Bomber Relays

BALLARD — Class B competition at the Girls Bomber Relays at Ballard Friday ended with two Jasper County teams placing in the top three.

Out of seven teams in contention, Colfax-Mingo finished second in the Class B Division with 100 team points, followed closely by third place Collins-Maxwell/Baxter with 90 points. Roland-Story won the meet scoring 205 total team points.

Many Tigerhawks recorded personal-best performances and three events finished with team-best efforts since the tenure of Colfax-Mingo head coach Zach Tomas.

“This was certainly one of the best meets the girls have had in my 5 years (as coach),” Tomas said. “The girls competed with a lot of effort and battled in every event. Girls from every grade level and specialty area (sprinters, distance, jumpers, hurdlers, and throwers) made a contribution to our team score”

The CM 4x800-meter relay team of Dakota Hostetter, Iva Moore, Aranda Woods and Bailey Pease scored a team best time of 11 minutes and .79 seconds. Moore also clocked a team best of 2:42.13 for the Tigerhawks in the 800-meter run finishing third in the event.

CMB’s Abbie Haupert won the discus with a throw of 103 feet, 4 inches.Tigerhawk Anna Baldwin recorded a team best in the discus with a distance of 94’ 8”.

McKinzie Tjaden took the gold medal for CM in the 100-meter dash, posting a time of 13.05 seconds.

CMB’s Payge Jurgens placed third in the shot put with a throw of 35 feet 6 inches and Raider Bekah Pearson recorded 31 feet 7 inches for fifth place. Mikayla Eslinger finished third in the discus with a throw of 99 feet 9 inches. Raider Bridget Hurley placed fourth in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet 4 inches, and Toni Spencer finished sixth in the high jump at 13feet 7 inches.

CMB runners took the fourth and fifth spots in the 300-meter run with Heather Jenssen recording a time of  12:58.26 and Chasity Moody in 14:09.02.

Tigerhawk Kayla Van Dusseldorp placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 31 feet 10 inches and Amy Russell placed sixth with a throw of 30 feet 4.5 inches. Aranda Woods placed second in the long jump with a leap of 14 feet 8 inches. In the discus, CM throwers placed fourth and fifth with Anna Baldwin recording a distance of 94 feet 8 inches and Jena Teed throwing for 85 feet 6 inches.

CM runner Kennedi Hostetter finished third in the 3,000-meter in 12:42.15. The shuttle hurdle team of Dakota Brodka, Bryanna Bill, Reagan Nichol and Tessa De Kock finished sixth in 1:27.92. Jessica Albright placed fifth in the 100-meter dash in 13.39 seconds.

In the distance medley, the team of Reagan Nichol, Amy Russell Erin Earles and Kennedi Hostetter finished fourth in 5:06.16. Bailey Pease finished fifth in the 400-meter dash in 68.50. The Tigerhawks finished second in the 4x200-meter relay with the team of Jessica Albright, Brianna Cooper, Dakota Hostetter and McKinzie Tjaden in 1:55.42. Dakota Brodka finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 20.08 seconds. McKinzie Tjaden took third in the 200-meter dash in 27.66 seconds. In the sprint medley the team of Anna Baldwin, Aranda Woods, Erin Earles and Eva Donnermayer placed sixth in 21:13.79.

The CM 4x100-meter relay team of Jessica Albright, Brianna Cooper, Dakota Hostetter and McKinzie Tjaden placed third in 54.25 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay team of Aranda Woods, Dakota Hostetter, Amy Russell and Cassie Craig finished second in 4:47.66.

The Tigerhawk and Raider girls will face off again tonight at 5 p.m. (weather permitting) in Baxter, and CM is away at Ogden Thursday.
